Within the EU project, in the period 27-30 July 2021, a total of 29 representatives coming from the agricultural cooperatives from North Macedonia; the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy; the Association Macedonian Association of Agricultural Cooperatives; the project’s implementers from CARE International Balkans project and the Macedonian Enterprise Development Foundation, as well as journalists from the national TV station, participated in the study visit to Greece in the regions of Kavala, Veria and Thessaloniki.
During the 4-day study visit, the participants had the opportunity to visit 9 entities, including 6 agricultural cooperatives, 1 association, 1 union of processors and 1 institute. Cooperatives that are producers of fruits (peaches, kiwis, cherries, etc.), vegetables (asparagus), olives, corn, wine, etc. were visited. Greek models of association and support from EU funds were presented. The visit was also covered by the local media in Kavala and Veria.
Besides the exchange of information and experiences, as an added value of the study visit is the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Association Macedonian Association of Agricultural Cooperatives and the Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of Imathia.
